Today we got a late start around 1PM. So Sagrada Familia got shelved. Instead, we went to the Museum of Barcelona history. We are really glad that we saw this and highly recommend it. The museum covers about 1,500 years of Barcelona’s history.
The highlight for us was the “earlier” years of 20 B.C to 900 A.D, give or take a hundred years. This part of Barcelona’s history was pretty fascinating as it showed the development of the city. We learned that the initial development was only 25 acres in size and had about a thousand people. It was a walled off city with four entrances/exits. The museum is a couple of stories underground, as this is where “Barcino” was. Like many cities of this time, it was constructed of large block rocks combined with smaller randomly shaped rocks. You had to use some imagination as this former city was in a state a ruin.
